Help Needed!
The
United Way/Red Cross Medical Transportation Program is in need of
a volunteer to assist
director
Amelia Benson in coordinating program and working with volunteer drivers.

as a Team for a Day of Caring! - Volunteer
teams are encouraged to sign up to participate in Caring Projects for
local needs.
Non
profit agencies with identified needs can be connected with your team
of volunteers for a day of action and impact. Call Diane at the United
Way office to find out how your group can help.
Help
Lead the Annual Drive- Your talents
and skills are always needed to help implement the fall campaign. Division
leaders oversee a group of volunteers to reach out to local workplaces.
Have fun and utilize your leadership talents! Contact the UW office.
Shepherd's Table Outreach-
Volunteers are always appreciated on Tuesdays and Thursdays
at the Shepherd's Table from 4p.m to
7 p.m. to help serve hot meals.

Safe Kids: Calling
all volunteers and groups of volunteers to help on this year's
September 11 Child Safety Expo! Lots of fun activities and
food for all- Volunteers desired for Car Safety , Water Safety,Bike
Safety, Fire Safety, registration and food.

Child Protection Council
-is partnering with WTCM for a radio-thon to bring awareness
and funds to Child abuse prevention.
Volunteers are wanted to help take phone calls on August 26 and 27.

2008
Silent Auction- Ended!
Thank
you to all who participated!
If
you are the winning bidder, please call the UW and arrange to pick up
and pay for your item.
The
Golf Outing and Silent Auction ended on July 16, 2008 and raised over
$13,000. for the United Way's community services. Thank you to John
Sniegowski, BorgWarner for Chairing the United Way Golf Outing this
year, and Debbie Vennema, Rexair for Chairing the United Way Silent
Auction.
United
Way of Wexford County announced Direct Funding Awards after approving
them at the March 24 Board Meeting.
Tim
McNalley,Northwestern Bank, and Chair of the United Way Community Investment
Committee announced the results of this year's DirectProgram funding
review and recommendation process. United Way of Wexford County continues
to move forward in the focus on community impact.
The
Community Impact Agenda for the United Way of Wexford County was developed
as a map for future investments and a catalyst for developing new ways
to achieve results.

Local
2-1-1 Task Force Meets
Area
organizations met to learn about the benefits and costs of bringing
2-1-1 to the commmunity. Sherry Miller, Statewide 2-1-1 Coordinator
presented information on the process and
costs of 2-1-1.
Free
Prescription Discount Cards available now!
Free
prescription drug discount cards to assist people who do not have prescription
insurance with the cost of their prescription drugs are available at
the United Way office at 117 W. Cass Cadillac. Most pharmacies in the
United States accept these prescription drug discount cards.They have
no usage limits, age requirements, or registration forms. People can
also print a card by visiting the website:
www.familywize.com.!
Over
800 prescription claims were able to save over $13,000. in one month
alone to families in Wexford County. The average savings was 38.36%.
United Way of Wexford County was listed as one of the top 21 counties
in the amount saved for the month of December. United Way would like
to recognize all of our area pharmacies for their partnership in helping
families save money on their medications.
The
cards are being distributed free of charge, courtesy of United Way of
Wexford County and 270 other United Way agencies around the country
in 47 states, as part of a $50 million national, in-kind donation of
discount prescriptioncards coordinated by Membership Services Corporation,
located in Bethlehem, PA, and its industry partners.
